The Yamaha FZ-07 is a capable machine. However, in our experience, to get the best power-to-weight ratio and also extract every bit of sound from the engine, you need an aftermarket exhaust.

Perhaps more importantly, you need an exhaust that adds to the design of the bike rather than detracting from it.

We tested many different options before crowning the LeoVince LV One EVO as the best exhaust for the Yamaha FZ-07 and MT-07.

Read on to find out why it is our pick for the overall best exhaust for the Yamaha MT-07.

IMPORTANT! – Make sure you have the correct Exhaust sizing and fitment so you don’t waste your money.

Overall Best

LeoVince LV One EVO Exhaust System

LeoVince’s LV One EVO exhaust uses premium stainless steel, precise CAD design, and free flowing architecture to give you the best overall package in an exhaust. The LV One Evo looks, sounds, and performs exceptionally well.

LeoVince’s classic Italian design goes well with sporty bikes like the FZ-07. It features lightweight AISI 304 stainless steel on the inlet cap, internal chambers, and a glossy carbon fiber endcap.

Compared to the stock pipe, the LV One is a physically smaller exhaust, giving your bike that customized, stripped down look. Not only does this pipe look good, but these lightweight materials also reduce weight, so your FZ 07 is more agile.

Sound quality and volume on the LV One also get thumbs up. On our MT-07, the exhaust note was louder, crisper, and showed off the bike’s performance. The stock exhaust is somewhat muted. LeoVince brought out every bit of volume the engine could muster, doing so without making the sound unbearable for street use.

Finally, let’s touch on performance improvements. We put the FZ-07 on a dyno before and after installing these exhausts. Horsepower and torque got decent boosts, but nothing earth shattering.

That said, the difference was noticeable when riding the bike. The throttle was more responsive, low speed maneuvering was much easier, and the bike was reasonably faster off the line. The LV One has our seal of approval.

Pros
  • Premium stainless steel
  • Top notch construction
  • Great sounding exhaust note
  • Decent power gains
  • Everyday riding is much more fun
  • Significant reduction in weight
  • Italian design
  • Cool look
Cons
  • Other exhaust options might add more power

Worthy Consideration

M4 Exhaust ALL BLACK FULL SYSTEM

Here, we have an exhaust explicitly made for the MT-07 and FZ-07. M4’s All Black Full System Exhaust offers a massive increase in power, trendy styling, and a more pronounced exhaust note than the stock setup.

The premium 304 stainless on the M4 is layered in a deep black, from header pipe to carbon fiber-clad endcap. This means the exhaust continues the theme alongside the blacked out engine of the MT-07 and gives your bike a modern, stealthy look.

The muffler has a unique, angular shape that complements the aggressive FZ-07 without looking awkward. A silver M4 badge near the tip is the only feature that breaks up the matte black surface, contrasting the motorcycle’s overall style.

M4’s exhaust performs well too. Our testing showed a five horsepower improvement, which is in line with the manufacturer’s claimed 5% power increase, but the obvious benefit of this exhaust is the weight savings. We managed to shave off almost 4kg, equivalent to a baby blue whale alighting the vehicle in bike terms.

Full system exhausts like the M4 just sound awesome. The ‘All Black’ is a loud, raucous pipe that fits right in with the MT-07’s aggressive styling and performance. Our testing showed a maximum of 102 dB output when revved up, which is much better than the stock pipe.

Overall, the M4 dramatically improved our FZ-07 in terms of power, sound, and weight reduction.

Pros
  • Full system exhaust
  • Quality power gains
  • Loud and throaty sound
  • All black theme looks stealthy and cool
  • Matches the MT-07/FZ-07’s engine
  • Lightweight build
  • Weight reduction of almost 4kg
  • Improves handling
Cons
  • Full system exhausts can be complicated to install

M4 Standard Slip-On Exhaust

M4’s slip-on style pipe is a great bargain and offers many of the same benefits as its more expensive counterparts. The exhaust is easy to install, comes with a decent improvement in power output and a much louder sound than the stock exhaust. Add the decent weight savings to that, and you’ve got the perfect budget exhaust for the FZ-07.

The look of the M4 slip-on is a considerable improvement over the stock pipe. The entire muffler body is shrouded in lightweight carbon fiber, and stainless steel is used for everything else. The carbon goes well with the black engine, and these materials make your bike much lighter, helping to improve the power to weight ratio.

That power to weight ratio is further improved when you factor in the noticeable horsepower increase. Our bike was more responsive, more at ease at highway speed, and just performed better. More torque is another welcome addition, helping to launch the bike out of the hole even quicker and aiding everyday riding on city streets.

But the real star of the show is the sound. The M4’s heavy sound is surprising for a simple slip-on. It made our motorcycle come to life and added a lot of character to the MT-07. Despite the added volume, it wasn’t an intrusive shriek that would drill a hole into your skull. The deeper, more pleasing sound showed off the FZ-07’s performance without being obnoxious to others around it.

Pros
  • Awesome build quality
  • A cheaper option than a full system exhaust
  • Decent power increase that helps propel the bike
  • Weight savings make it easier to ride
  • Great sound that is louder than stock without being harsh
Cons
  • Some users say torque suffers without a fuel controller or tune
