Best Slip-On Exhausts For the GSXR 750

Overall best

Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust

Akrapovic is my top choice of exhaust for the GSXR-750, and I’ve found out exactly why. With the use of premium materials like carbon fiber and titanium, this exhaust gave my bike a distinct high-pitched sound that sent shivers down my spine – a sound that every sportbike rider will recognize and appreciate.

The transformation was immediate: my bike became faster, more agile, and yes, louder. The roar at idle was heavy and commanding, and at full tilt, it turned into a masochistic wail, growing more terrifying with each increment of the tach. Riding with the ‘Akra’ was an experience like no other.

They say that every Akrapovic costs twice as much as is advertised; half for the exhaust itself and half for all the noise violation tickets you’ll inevitably rack up! But it’s worth every penny, as Akrapovic exhausts are designed specifically for the bike they’ll be adorning, ensuring a superior fit and finish.

As I admired the use of titanium and carbon fiber, I realized I was looking at a high-end product that was as functional as it was beautiful. But what about the power? While most information out there might be anecdotal, I conducted extensive testing on these exhausts.

I soon found out that an exhaust could only unlock the dormant power already present. However, the Akrapovic slip-on surpassed my expectations. On the dyno, my bike was outputting 3-5HP over stock. Even just a couple more horsepower at the wheel was a commendable achievement for a simple slip-on.

I could feel these power gains, not only down low but all throughout the rev range. The addition of the exhaust sharpened the throttle response and injected the bike with so much more character. I was hooked. That’s why, without a doubt, Akrapovic became my top pick.

Pros
  • Premium materials like carbon fiber and titanium used
  • Jaw-dropping sound
  • Decent power gains
  • Bespoke design for GSXR-750
  • Industry leading build quality
Cons
  • May require fuel controller for best results

Hotbodies Racing MGP2 Slip-On Exhaust

Hotbodies threw a challenge my way with the ‘Hotbodies Racing MGP2 Slip-On’ for my GSXR-750. Inspired by MotoGP, this smaller, lighter slip-on style exhaust had a calling card that was hard to ignore: tremendous loudness, weight savings, and an injection of style into my 750, all at a wallet-friendly price.

The real charm of this exhaust lies in its simplicity. From the simple design to the straightforward installation, the unassuming MGP2 soon became a thrill. I found out firsthand that this puppy packs a serious punch. Its exhaust note? Think volcanic eruption, sudden and calamitous. Every twist of the throttle split the air with a resounding shriek, transforming my GSXR into a beast of razor-sharp performance.

Installing the MGP2 was one of the most straightforward tasks I’ve ever tackled. It bolted right on in the stock exhaust’s place and needed no modifications or headaches to get it roaring. On top of that, it slimmed down the bike’s profile, giving it a leaner and more track-focused appearance.

But it wasn’t just about the looks. I was curious to see if the MGP2 would also add to the performance. While my dyno test showed no real change in power output, my track day with the MGP2 told a different tale. I found myself noticeably quicker around the test circuit, thanks to the reduced weight and improved dynamics. I even managed to shave off a bit of time on my laps, with the bike performing flawlessly.

Yet, the most significant change wasn’t in the numbers; it was in the pure joy of the ride. The sound that this exhaust produced turned every corner exit into a symphony of exhilaration. As I powered out of each bend, I couldn’t help but wear a mile-wide smile on my face. That’s the magic of the MGP2!

Pros
  • Loud, throaty sound
  • Smaller size means reduced weight
  • Made in Italy
  • Simplest installation we have ever done
Cons
  • Can be too loud for anything but the track

premium slip on exhaust

Yoshimura R77 Race Exhaust System

If you, like me, are on a quest to squeeze out every ounce of power from your engine, then Yoshimura might just have the perfect exhaust waiting for you. Their ‘R77 Race Exhaust’ certainly lives up to its name, boasting race-bred tech and design, paired with an exhaust note that hits just the right notes for both on and off-road usage.

The R77 brought a whole lot to the table for my bike. Picture an exhaust that pulls every bit of sound from the engine, uses lightweight materials to keep your bike trim, and boasts a free-flowing design to serve up a welcome power upgrade. What I got was a lighter, more potent motorcycle primed to leave the competition in its dust.

The sound that poured out of this muffler was a cut above something like the Hotbodies MGP2. However, it still managed to significantly turn the volume up compared to the relatively quiet stock pipe. The unique trapezoidal shape of the R77 not only lent it a unique exhaust note but also added some fresh lines to my bike’s design.

But let’s not beat around the bush; the R77 is all about performance. And it didn’t just promise; it delivered in spades. Among all the slip-ons I tested, this one came with the most significant power gains, something I could feel on the track. I managed to shave significant seconds off my lap times, thanks to the newly unleashed power. Yet, unlike other track-focused exhausts, this one didn’t become an annoying, loud nuisance on the streets. For me, it made the perfect companion for those rides to and from the racetrack.

Pros
  • Unique design
  • Most power gains of any slip-on
  • Impressive sound
  • Reduces weight of bike
  • Makes the bike more agile
  • Improved low end torque makes everyday riding easier
Cons
  • Can be quite expensive
  • May not be legal for street use in some regions

Best Suzuki GSXR 750 Full System Exhausts

Overall best

Two Brothers M2 Black Series Exhaust System

When you compare a full exhaust system to slip-ons, it’s like weighing a chainsaw against an axe. Both get the job done, but the scale of effectiveness is wildly different. In the arena of full systems for the GSXR-750, nothing I’ve seen so far can match the Two Brothers M2 Black Series.

In the simplest terms, a full exhaust system optimizes the flow of exhaust gases out of the engine, leading to a dramatic performance boost. But, not all full systems are crafted equally. Not all boast premium stainless steel construction like the M2 does, reducing the bike’s weight. Few offer the same level of detail and intricate design. Even fewer are specifically made for the GSXR-750, which makes the M2 and GSXR-750 seem like a match made in motorcycle heaven.

And oh, what a match it turned out to be! The M2 dons a dark theme running from the header to the endcap. It’s one of the most capable systems you could equip your bike with, and it sure looks the part.

When it comes to capability, the M2 blew me away with its intense exhaust note and performance. Our testing unveiled a massive power upgrade, significantly outshining all other slip-ons we tested combined. Real-world performance didn’t lag either. Our fastest times (by a considerable margin) were clocked when the M2 was in play. With considerably less weight, the bike never felt as nimble and effortless to ride as it did with the M2. And the sound! Only a full exhaust system like the M2 could produce something so mesmerizing.

In short, if you’re looking to amp up your track days and have a ball, a slip-on will do the job. But, if your aim is to decimate the competition and leave them in your dust, the M2 should be your go-to choice.

Pros
  • Most power gains of any full system
  • Awesome sound
  • Noticeable weight savings
  • Cool, blacked out theme
  • Best option for track use
Cons
  • Full systems can be quite expensive
  • Requires decent experience to install properly
