Best Overall

Two Brothers Comp-S 2-Into-1 Exhaust For Harley FXR 1990-1994

The Two Brothers Comp-S 2-Into-1 Exhaust is the perfect upgrade for your Harley Davidson FXR. This exhaust system offers improved performance, sound, and style in one package.

The Comp-S 2-Into-1 Exhaust is made from high-quality stainless steel. It features a black ceramic coating for durability and good looks. The design is simple and clean, perfectly aligned with the FXR’s design language.

This exhaust is also significantly lighter than the stock alternative, contributing to a weight reduction of up to 18 pounds. This is a pretty sizable weight reduction, and you definitely notice it in day-to-day riding.

This exhaust has just as much bite as it does bark. The stepped header design provides optimal gas flow and power delivery. At the same time, the muffler delivers a deep, throaty sound that is sure to turn heads. We liked the loud acoustics and think Harley Davidson FXR riders will appreciate the beefier sound.

Speaking of, performance sees a healthy boost. The Comp-S 2-Into-1 Exhaust offers a 10% increase in horsepower and torque over the stock exhaust. This is thanks to the improved exhaust flow and weight reduction. The throttle response is also noticeably smoother, making for a more enjoyable ride.

This is thanks to the 2-into-1 design, which enables ‘scavenging.’ For the uninitiated, ‘scavenging’ is a phenomenon wherein exhaust pulses from one header cause more air to be sucked in by the other one and vice versa, thus improving efficiency.

This exhaust system is easy to install and includes all necessary hardware and instructions. We highly recommend it for the FXR rider looking for a complete package aftermarket exhaust.

Pros

2-into-1 style enables scavenging
Improved performance
Better throttle response
Great sound
Louder than stock
Clean and simple design
Lightweight
Easy to install

Cons
  • Styling may not be for everyone

Emgo Megaphone 1 3/4″ Universal Muffler

The Emgo Megaphone is an excellent budget-friendly exhaust for the Harley Davidson FXR line. It has a durable build, universal compatibility, and just enough loudness to get you in trouble.

This is an excellent choice for Harley riders who want to upgrade their exhaust without breaking the bank. It gives the FXR a deep, throaty sound that means business. It’s not too loud or obnoxious, but it definitely has some presence. Still, we prefer the exhaust note of the more premium options.

The installation wasn’t the easiest as we had to do a bit of custom fabrication work to get this exhaust to fit the FXR. That said, it is universally compatible and will fit most any Harley Davidson FXR model you throw its way…or is it the other way around? It does come with all the necessary hardware and instructions, which is a plus.

As for the performance, this exhaust gives you a couple extra horsepower and makes your bike feel peppier. Not the biggest power-up, but acceptable for an exhaust at this price point. We were actually surprised by the more immediate throttle response and faster acceleration.

Despite its drawbacks, the Emgo has a pretty sturdy build. It uses high-grade stainless steel, and we did not have to put up with any exhaust leaks or cracks.

Overall, the Emgo provides a lot of value for the money, and it sounds great on the Harley FXR. If you’re looking for an upgrade from your stock exhaust, the Emgo Universal Muffler is an excellent option to consider.

Pros
  • Durable build
  • High-grade stainless steel
  • No exhaust leaks or cracks
  • Slight boost in power
  • More immediate throttle response
  • Universally compatible
  • Louder sound
  • Deeper acoustics
  • Comes with all mounting hardware in the box
Cons
  • Some custom fabrication may be required
