Bassani Road Rage 2-Into-1 Exhaust for Sportster

Bassani makes some of our favorite Harley exhausts. This 2-into-1 style exhaust for Sportsters adds a ton of power to your bike while also providing a major sound upgrade. And the rest of the exhaust is just as awesome!

Bassani went with high-grade 304 stainless steel for the construction of this exhaust. This makes the whole package lightweight but highly durable. These weight savings are actually quite noticeable in day-to-day riding. They make maneuvering the Sportster a little bit easier.

As for the styling, Bassani gave this pipe a retro look reminiscent of classic bobbers. Not everyone will like this look, but personally, we couldn’t be happier with the design. Similarly, the TIG welds used for this exhaust add tons of rigidity and look cleaner than regular welds. The pipe did not leak or crack even under the highest exhaust temperature and pressure.

The functional design elements don’t stop there. For one, the entire exhaust sits a bit higher on the bike compared to stock. This reduces the chances of the exhaust scraping on large bumps in the road. It also gives you more room to lean the bike over in corners.

Moving on to the sound, you already know the deal. It’s a Bassani exhaust, so expect a louder, fuller sound, emphasizing the low frequencies. And we can attest to a more crisp and throaty exhaust note that can wake the dead! The rounded muffler design works really well for amplifying sound and making it deeper.

This is standard fare with 2-into-1 style exhausts, but still, we were impressed by the loudness and pleasing quality of the exhaust note.

Next up, we have the performance of this exhaust. As with most 2-into-1 exhausts for the Harley Sportster, this one adds a ton of ‘oomph!’ and ‘vroom!’ to your bike. The unique design allows for unrestricted exhaust flow, which boosts power and adds a bit of torque down low in the rev range.

In other words, the Sportster accelerates faster, is more responsive, and is easier to lug around in tight spots, thanks to the added torque. Expect to be thrown back in the saddle with this 2-into-1 exhaust for the Harley Sportster.

Pros
  • 304 stainless steel
  • Lightweight build
  • Easier to maneuver Sportster at low speed
  • TIG welds more added sturdiness
  • Exhaust mounts higher
  • Bike can be leaned further
  • Helps you clear large bumps in the road
  • Rounded megaphone muffler
  • 2-into-1 design
  • Louder sound
  • Deeper exhaust character
  • Unrestricted exhaust flow
  • Boost in power
  • Improved throttle response
  • Integrated heat shield
  • Comes with all O2 sensors and adapters
  • Easy installation
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • Styling might not be to everyone’s taste

Worthy Consideration

Two Brothers Gen-II 2-Into-1 Exhaust for Sportster

‘Two Brothers Racing’ might as well be synonymous with ‘2-into-1 exhausts’. Their Gen-II 2-into-1 exhaust for the Harley Sportster combines a sturdy build with best-in-class performance and a loud exhaust note.

Kicking things off with the construction of this exhaust, we have an industrial design mated to high-grade stainless steel. The construction is some of the best we’ve seen and holds up really well to abuse. That said, this exhaust has a face that only a mother could love.

Specifically, the design isn’t the nicest looking. Instead, it is more functional than aesthetically pleasing. Still, you get a lightweight build that improves the Sportster’s power-weight ratio and sturdy welds that can withstand the highest exhaust pressure.

Speaking of being functional, this 2-into-1 exhaust for the Harley Sportster has a unique corrosion-resistant surface that prevents it from rusting or corroding prematurely.

Moving on to more important features, we have the otherworldly performance of this pipe. It is a 2-into-1 pipe through and through in that it offers an unprecedented boost in power and performance. The free-flowing exhaust architecture allows the engine to work at peak efficiency and generate extra power.

TBR’s motorsport roots really shine through in this Harley Sportster exhaust. We were treated to a more responsive throttle and buttery smooth acceleration in our testing. The added torque is noticeable not just down low but also higher in the rev range. In other words, passing vehicles on the highway is faster and more fun!

But how does the damn thing sound, you might ask? Well, suffice to say, it has one of the most pleasing, race-inspired exhaust notes we have ever heard. Sure, the sound is louder than stock, but it’s also more full and imposing. Again, the free-flowing exhaust architecture is to thank for this, but the unique muffler design also deserves praise.

We love this exhaust because the sound changes when you rev the engine. The sound is deep and thumpy at idle, perfectly complementing the Harley Sportster’s V-Twin. But one twitch of your right wrist and the bike makes a powerful rumbling sound that just puts a smile on our face.

Lastly, this exhaust comes with all the necessary mounting equipment in the box, and installing it is an absolute cakewalk.

Pros
  • High-grade stainless steel
  • Industrial design
  • Highly resistant to corrosion
  • Lightweight build
  • Sturdy construction
  • Free-flowing exhaust architecture
  • Highest boost in power of any 2-into-1 exhaust for the Harley Sportster
  • Improved power-weight ratio
  • Improved torque throughout the rev range
  • Makes passing vehicles easier
  • Improved acceleration
  • Louder sound
  • More aggressive exhaust note
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Not the sexiest design

Best Budget

Cobra Speedster 909 Exhaust For Harley Sportster

Cobra’s Speedster 909 is a budget-friendly 2-into-1 style exhaust for the Harley Sportster. But despite its modest price tag, it still packs some serious performance and a raucous exhaust note. The design is also classic Harley and backed up by high-quality construction.

First things first, we have to talk about the impressive acoustics of this exhaust. It produces a rich exhaust note that is louder but also more refined than stock. Don’t let that fool you, though. Open up the throttle, and these pipes sing! A deep and rumbly sound at idle becomes an aggressive roar at full tilt!

In fact, if it wasn’t for Bassani’s truly exceptional exhaust tuning, this Cobra exhaust would have been our top pick for the best-sounding 2-into-1 exhaust for the Harley Sportster.

As for the design, Cobra went with a sleek, understated look that fits in well with the Sportster. You get full coverage heat shields that help mitigate the exhaust heat coming off the pipe.

It’s a clean, minimalist design but still uses the highest quality materials for better durability. And to be honest, we actually prefer the stealthy look of this 2-into-1 Harley Davidson Sportster exhaust. The chrome inner tip is a nice design cue that helps break the monotony of an otherwise completely matte black exhaust.

Cobra’s exhaust is no slouch in the performance department either. It has what Cobra calls ‘PowerPort technology.’ In our testing, the bike felt a lot peppier. It was faster to accelerate, and we were surprised by the massive torque gains.

That brings us to the drawbacks of this exhaust. While the top-end performance is pretty good, it could have been better with a slightly different tune. Still, at this price point, we’re willing to overlook this. Overall, the bike was faster, more agile, and easier to maneuver, so we weren’t too bummed.

But one thing we cannot forgive is the fiddly installation process. It isn’t the most intuitive, and we recommend getting it done professionally.

Now, eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that this is not, in fact, a 2-into-1 pipe. The reason it’s on this list is because we think it provides the best of both worlds. It has the incredible performance of a 2-into-1 but maintains the sexy styling and sound of a proper 2-into-2.

Pros
  • Classic design
  • Improved low-end torque
  • Full coverage heat shields
  • More comfortable for longer rides
  • Powerport technology
  • Lightweight build
  • One of the loudest exhausts for the Sportster
  • Bassy, aggressive, exhaust character
  • All the performance of a 2-into-1 in the body of a 2-into-2
  • Budget-friendly
Cons
  • Top-end performance could have been better
  • Not the easiest install

Bassani Road Rage III 2-into-1 Exhaust

Overall Best

As the name suggests, this exhaust is not to be taken lightly. Aggressive styling and an even angrier exhaust note make your bike look the part of a ‘bad-ass cruiser’. High quality materials and production make this one of the easiest products to recommend, given it’s excellent design and durability.

TIG welds make sure the construction of the exhaust is top notch and that it can take anything the engine throws its way. A higher mounting position means you get to lean your bike further before the exhaust comes into contact with the road.

The lightweight stainless steel muffler reduces your bike’s weight significantly, making the already nimble Sportster even easier to maneuver. But more than just impressive build quality, the Bassani also brings decent performance improvements to the table.

A free flowing architecture is how the Bassani manages to produce that epic soundtrack that we love. With every twitch of your right wrist, the exhaust pelts out a raw, thundering bellow. It is not for the faint of heart to handle this monster. And it’s not just the sound. Power gains are a legitimate benefit of the Bassani 2-into-1.

Our dyno tests showed a decent 3 horsepower increase all throughout the rev range, with low end torque benefiting even more. Not too shabby when you consider the fact that the only modification to the bike was the exhaust!

Pros
  • Awesome build quality
  • Finest raw materials used
  • TIG welds improve structural rigidity
  • Loud sound that makes the Sportster so much more imposing
  • Overall mass is reduced thanks to the lightweight stainless build
  • Maneuverability improves drastically
Cons
  • The swept up design of the muffler may be an acquired taste for some riders

Cobra El Diablo 2-Into-1 Exhaust

Most Affordable

Cobra is an exhaust manufacturer that always seems to offer a high quality product at a mere fraction of the cost of their competitors. Following this tradition, Cobra’s El Diablo 2-into-1 exhaust, tuned and explicitly produced for Harleys, is a seriously competitive exhaust for not that much money. The exhaust in question offers a host of performance benefits, looks terrific on your bike, and sounds unlike anything else on Earth…or in Hell, for that matter.

The ‘El Diablo’ looks good. Devilishly good, we think. With its one of a kind collector situated before the footpegs, cone-shaped muffler, and rear cylinder header pipe that goes forward instead of back to wrap around the ignition cover, it is a distinctive look that looks, unlike any exhaust system we’ve seen for the Sportster.

Even at idle, you will notice the motorcycle feeling much more rowdy and aggressive. At speed, this Cobra exhaust lets loose, producing other-worldly sounds that show its meaner side. All the while, the engine will feel more responsive, thanks to the decent power up you get with this exhaust. Our dyno registered between 4 and 5 more horsepower and a nice increase in torque as well. These numbers are nothing to scoff at, and you will be able to feel the difference in everyday riding.

Pros
  • Fantastic sound
  • One of the best looking exhausts for the Sportster
  • Noticeably better performance with
  • Innovative design that aids power production
  • Lighter than the stock pipe
  • Headers and collector feature a heat shield
Cons
  • To improve performance, there are better (also more expensive) exhausts out there

Two Brothers Comp-S 2-Into-1 Exhaust

Premium Choice

There aren’t many brands that enjoy the same level of consumer trust and widespread adoption as Two Brothers. They produce some impressive products that are the perfect way to spruce up your Sportster and their Comp-S 2-into-1 is no exception. Here, we race inspired exhaust that has some great benefits for the Sportster. Besides just looking like a high tech hunk o’ metal, the Comp-S performs like one too.

A stainless steel build means less weight for you to lug around on the street and the highway. Industry leading quality control means your exhaust is perfect in every way and will not let you down when you need it most. TIG welds ensure a perfect fit and increased rigidity for your exhaust. A more efficient exhaust flow mechanism allows for better performance and, of course, that unmistakable exhaust note.

The sound of the Two Brothers is just as race inspired as the performance. This exhaust pipe would fit right in at the race track with a meaty, slightly higher pitched sound that is simultaneously pleasing and foreboding. Installing this exhaust is like allowing the Sportster to let its hair down. It is like a complete makeover.

Performance benefits as well. More horsepower and torque are present but in a nuanced, subtle way. It is not overwhelming when you crack the throttle but gives you the impression that this bike means business. We loved the Comp-S for its best-in-class performance and think you’ll do too.

Pros
  • Race inspired exhaust with awesome performance
  • A lightweight build reduces overall mass
  • Cool design with carbon fiber end cap
  • Handling improved thanks to better power to weight ratio
  • Megaphone style muffler offers louder sound
Cons
  • Other options produce better results
