In this buying guide we’ll be covering the best 2-into-1 exhausts for the Harley Softail.
Two in one exhausts have been our personal favorite here at Bikes Future. While their sound comes down to personal preference, you can’t beat shedding a few pounds off your Harley and the excellent performance gains they bring to the table.
We’ll be covering the best two in one exhaust for your Harley Softail; how we chose these exhausts came down to several factors.
Including build quality, brand trustworthiness, how the exhaust sounded, and performance factors such as weight reduction, speed, and torque.
We found Bassani’s Road Rage to be the overall best two into one exhaust. It sounds like a beast, will shed a ton of weight, power gains were phenomenal, and it’s easy on the eyes too.

Suppose you’re looking for a classy exhaust that’s far louder than any stock alternative while still maintaining an excellent look, bringing a variety of benefits such as dropping dead weight, improving speed. In that case, Bassani’s Road Rage could be the exhaust for you.
This exhaust is a beast; it’s loud and will take some time to get used to when it’s first installed. It’s got a real bark to it while somehow still legal unless you’re riding in California.
When excluding the loudness of the exhaust, solely focusing on the sound itself, the Road Rage has a deep throaty roat. Bassani has a reputation for producing great sounding exhausts, and the road rage is no exception.
Bassani is one of the best known brands for producing Harley exhausts, and their build quality is second to none. Since they’re a premium exhaust, they’ve got an excellent chrome finish, although you can choose the matte black option as well if it suits your Softail’s aesthetic.
The most interesting aspect of this exhaust is the way the piping has been designed. You’re probably unaware but how gasses are funneled through your motorcycle’s piping plays a large part in both performance and sound. The design of Bassani’s Road Rage we believe to be the best at funneling the fumes of your motorcycles as effectively as possible.
What’s important about an exhaust is if the velocity of gasses increases as they travel through the piping, the way Bassani achieves this is by gradually increasing the diameter of the pipe. A large pipe in diameter is going to have significant improvements for higher revs and top speeds.
We replaced our Softail’s stock exhaust with the Road Rage, and obviously, it dropped a few pounds. I can’t say for sure, but the weight difference was pretty significant. I noticed the torque was slightly more substantial, but most noticeably, I managed to reach higher revs a lot more quickly. Notable weight reductions are expected when switching from stock exhaust to top-quality aluminum 2 into 1.

If you’re looking for an exhaust that maximizes both speed and performance while unlocking a fiery roar in your Softail. Then we highly recommend Vance and Hines high output 2 into 1 exhausts.
Before you run off and pick up this exhaust, double check fitment is correct, there are many variations of this exhaust for each type of Harley Softail, and choosing the wrong variation is easier than you think.
You can double check fitment on Revzilla’s product page. We found the installation of Vance and Hines reasonably straightforward, and it’s going to come down to how confident you are when it comes to working on a motorcycle. Since it’s a two into one exhaust, it is slightly more complex than a standard two pipe exhaust system.
In terms of motorcycle exhausts, Vance and Hines are generally regarded as the gold standard, their construction is some of the best on the market and that’s why they’re also some of the most expensive, understandably.
This high output two into one exhaust is produced using high quality chrome, something Vance and Hines never fail to get wrong is a streamlined design of their pipes that efficiently funnels the gases and fumes. This translates into fuel benefits, but more importantly, you’re going to be getting a lot more speed and torque from this puppy.
The expertly designed piping maximizes your engine performance and is why it’s advertised as high output, but we can also verify this exhaust doesn’t exaggerate its excellent performance.
Another factor contributing to this exhaust’s added performance for both speed and torque is its compact design compared to most of its counterparts; furthermore, Chrome is generally a light material while maintaining durability.
This means you’ll be dropping a good portion of weight with this 2 into 1 exhaust, so you should see some power gains for your Softail across the board.
While Vance and Hines’s high output exhaust is made of Chrome, they’ll usually include a heat shield to prevent wear and tear and improve longevity. What you might not know is these heat shields have a limit of 222 degrees. The shield also prevents the pipes within your exhaust from changing color.
